It was at the end of the twentieth century (1999!) that Lagoon seriously started to take an interest in power catamarans. A year later, the Power 43 was exhibited at first 21st century Paris Boat Show … an first attempt received as a masterstroke by the press and pleasure boaters.
In 2006, the Lagoon Power 44 was launched: A new version with a more significant flybridge and a more convivial steering station. Lagoon Power 44’s twin 310 HP Volvo diesel engines provide an impressive speed of up to 24 knots, and exceptional fuel economy found only in a catamaran. Because of the reduced drag from the slim hulls, power cats use less fuel than the similarly sized motor yacht, with the bonus of greater range and much lower fuel cost.
The smooth shape of the power cat also means it needs smaller engines to match the speed of a monohull powerboat. All of this confirms that Lagoon Power 44 catamaran is the ideal cruising power boat, capable of both high top speeds and extended cruising ranges that cannot be matched by any monohull boat. To our guests, this equates to lower fuel costs, more time spent on holiday and less time in passage making which should keep everybody happy!
